English Ability

AEAS Testing

At Epsom Girls Grammar School, we are committed to supporting our international students so they can confidently participate in all aspects of school life and achieve success in their studies.

The AEAS assessment measures English language proficiency, mathematical reasoning, general ability, and a student's readiness to learn in a mainstream school setting. Please refer to the benchmarking table below for the minimum entry requirements.

Our goal is to ensure every international student begins their journey at Epsom Girls Grammar School with the skills and support they need to thrive academically and become an active member of our school community.

To arrange the assessment, please contact us by email at international@eggs.school.nz, and we will provide instructions on the registration process.

To be considered for entry to Epsom Girls Grammar School, applicants are expected to achieve a minimum AEAS score of 36 for Year 9, 46 for Year 10, and 56 for Year 11

Length of study

Our minimum term of enrolment is six months, which is two terms.
