Years 9-10

The EGGS Year 9 curriculum gives every student a foundation year on which to build future learning. It is designed to prepare students for whatever direction or directions their lives and interests may go. It caters to all areas of learning and meets the New Zealand Curriculum standards.

Year 9 students study
English
One language (Chinese Second Language, French, Japanese, Latin, Spanish, Te Reo Māori, English for Speakers of Other Languages)
Mathematics
Physical Education and Health
Science
Social Studies
Art (Drama, Music, Visual Art)
Technology (Digital, Food, Design and Textiles) 

In addition students choose:
EITHER a) another language (full year)
OR b) two half year courses chosen from:
Art
Business Studies
Digital Technology
Media Studies
Music
Philosophy

Year 10 students study:
English
Mathematics
Physical Education and Health
Science
Social Studies

One half year Arts course from:
Art
Drama
Music

One half year Technology course from:
Design and Visual Communication
Design Technology
Digital Technology
Food Technology

In addition students choose 2 full year Options from:
Art
Business Studies
Chinese Second Language
Digital Technology
Drama
English for Speakers of Other Languages
Environmental Studies
Food Technology
French
Graphics
Japanese
Latin
Music
Philosophy

Textiles and Design

Year 10: Students may not choose the same Arts course - eg: Drama (half-year) and then Option Drama.

Literacy: A literacy skills programme is offered to selected students.

Learning skills: A learning skills programme is offered to selected students.
