When I moved to New Zealand, I became more active in the sport of sailing and started to compete in local and national regattas which gave me the foundations to develop my skills within this sport. With this and the continuous support of my family and people in Fiji, I started competing overseas by representing Fiji at the Australian laser nationals to the South Pacific Games whilst also attending school.
The event that qualified me to the Tokyo 2020 Olympics was the 2020 Laser World Championships which took place in Melbourne over February of last year, pre covid. There were two oceania spots up for grabs and because I was first in Oceania, I was selected along with a sailor from Papua New Guinea. I am now out on the water or in the gym every day of the week trying to prepare myself for my first ever Olympics and hopefully not my last.
