Out of Zone Applications

Out of zone places are available to students who live outside the home zone and within the Auckland City boundaries, and who are not currently enrolled at EGGS.

Students who live outside the home zone and within the Auckland City boundaries, and who are not currently enrolled at EGGS, may apply for out of zone places if a ballot is offered.

Please note the ballots are for places as a day student. Students intending to apply as a boarder at Epsom House (for students residing out of Auckland) will need to contact Mrs Chris Barnes.

2019 entry

Applications have closed and waiting lists are in place at every year level.

2020 entry

Ballots for all year levels will be held in September 2019. The deadline for receipt of applications is Wednesday 4 September. Ballots for all levels will be held on Wednesday 11 September 2019.

Request an application form.

Year 9

The Board of Trustees expects to be able to offer out of zone places for Year 9 to priority groups and a limited number of general applicants. At this stage we are unable to confirm the actual number of places available. The Board will decide on the number of available places for Year 9 students just before the ballot. They will base this number of applications from students who live within the School's home zone.

Years 10-13

For out of zone places in Years 10-13 we will ballot for waiting lists only and any places becoming available will be filled from those lists. The Board expects to decide whether any places are available in November.

Ballots

The process we follow to select out of zone students is prescribed by legislation and is set out in our enrolment scheme.

Applicants will be processed in the following order of priority:

  1. First priority will be given to applicants who are siblings of current students.
  2. Second priority will be given to applicants who are siblings of former students.
  3. Third priority will be given to applicants who are daughters of former students.
  4. Fourth priority will be given to applicants who are either daughters of Board employees or daughters of a member of the Board of the School.
  5. Fifth priority will be given to all other applicants.

Applicants will be required to provide evidence to support their inclusion in a priority group.

If there are more applicants than there are places available, we will use a ballot to randomly select students in the priority group to fill the places. Unsuccessful applicants will be ranked in their numerical order and put on a waiting list. Ballots are conducted under the supervision of a qualified solicitor.

Due to the large number of out of zone applications received and the limited number of places available, many applicants are unsuccessful in the ballot. It is important that you also apply to your local school for enrolment.

If you have any queries please contact our reception phone 09 630 5963 Ext 700 or the Enrolment Manager, Mrs Wendy Smith by phone 09 970 6710 or by email enrolments@eggs.school.nz
