Dux 2025 - Nina Zhang

Throughout her time at Epsom Girls Grammar School, Nina Zhang has demonstrated exceptional academic excellence, intellectual curiosity, and a deep commitment to learning. In Year 11, Nina gained 37 credits—every one at Excellence level. In Year 12, she earned an outstanding 107 credits, 103 of which were at Excellence. This year, she has already achieved 30 credits, all at Excellence level, and received Excellence grades in nearly all her practice externals. Nina’s academic achievements extend beyond the classroom. She has been entered for NZ Scholarship examinations in English, Chinese, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Statistics—an extraordinary range that reflects both her versatility and ambition.

As a Learning Prefect, Nina has provided leadership and inspiration to others, fostering a culture of academic engagement and collaboration. She has contributed as a peer tutor and represented EGGS in a range of national competitions, including the NZ Engineering Science Competition, the Australian Mathematics Competition, the Korean Science Foundation competition, the Auckland Maths Olympiad, and the Science Bowl. Nina exemplifies the values of diligence, integrity, and intellectual passion that define the Epsom spirit. She is an outstanding role model whose achievements and attitude have inspired those around her. We are proud to recognise Nina Zhang as the Epsom Girls Grammar School Dux for 2025.

Proxime Accessit 2025 – Rena Misra

Rena Misra is a deserving and inspiring recipient of the Proxime Accessit for 2025. She has consistently demonstrated outstanding academic achievement, curiosity, and leadership throughout her time at Epsom Girls Grammar School.

In Year 11, Rena gained 21 NCEA Level 1 credits, all at Excellence. At Level 2, she earned 106 credits, 98 of which were at Excellence. This year, she has achieved all 27 internal Level 3 credits at Excellence, and all practice externals except one have also been at Excellence level. Rena’s contributions extend far beyond her own learning. Earlier this year, she was awarded the Prime Minister’s Science Prize for her Hydroponics Project, reflecting her ability to apply knowledge to real-world challenges. She has also enriched academic life across the school through participation in the New Zealand Engineering Science Competition, Science Bowl, and the New Zealand International Biology Olympiad. In addition, she served as one of the 2025 Student Judges at the NIWA Science Fair and has provided leadership as a Learning Prefect. We congratulate her on her outstanding achievements.
