Start of Year Information – 2026 Academic Year

Epsom Girls Grammar School looks forward to welcoming students for the start of the 2026 academic year on Thursday 29 January. Please read the key information below.

Start of Year – Thursday 29 January

Year 9 Students & New Students

  • Pōwhiri: 9.00am (students should arrive by 8.45am). Parents are welcome to attend. Light refreshments will follow at approximately 10.00am.
  • School finishes at 3.00pm.
  • Students must be in full school uniform.
  • Students should bring their laptop for login setup.

Year 10–13 Students

  • Start time: 10.30am
  • Assembly locations:
    • Year 10 – Old Gym
    • Year 11 – New Gym
    • Year 12 – Stadium
    • Year 13 – Hall

All students must be in correct, full school uniform.

Stationery

  • Full stationery is not required for Thursday.
  • Students must bring full stationery for the first full day of timetabled classes: Friday 30 January.

Uniform

  • All students must be in correct full school uniform.
  • Uniform Shop summer hours are available here.
  • Early purchase is recommended to avoid queues.
  • Year 9 and Year 10 students must wear the current EGGS PE uniform.

2026 Timetable Structure

Key points for the 2026 school day:

  • Start time: 8.35am daily (students go directly to Period 1)
  • Finish time:
    • 3.15pm (Mon, Tue, Thu, Fri)
    • 2.45pm (Wed)
  • Senior students, and some Year 10 classes, will have double periods on Tuesday–Thursday mornings.

Standards of Conduct

Students are expected to follow the school’s Code of Conduct and Fundamental School Rules.

These apply:

  • On site during the school day
  • While representing the school
  • During school activities or trips
  • While travelling to and from school in uniform
  • When identifiable as an EGGS student, including online

Uniform Standards

Students must meet uniform expectations at all times. Families are asked to check uniform items before school begins.

Mobile Phones

  • Phones must be turned off and kept in bags during the school day.
  • Confiscated phones may be collected Wednesday or Friday at 3.30pm from Student Reception.
  • Phone exemptions can only be arranged through a Dean.

Health & Safety

  • Bullying and harassment are not tolerated.
  • Students are encouraged to report concerns to their Dean or a Deputy Principal.
  • EGGS operates 24‑hour CCTV surveillance to support a safe school environment.
