Table Tennis
Congratulations to Year 9 student Karen Looi, who has continued to make her mark on the international table tennis stage. Representing New Zealand, Karen recently competed at two World Table Tennis (WTT) Youth Contender tournaments in South America. She delivered a commanding performance in Buenos Aires, Argentina, winning the Under 13 Girls’ title, before backing this up with an impressive third-place finish in the Under 13 Girls’ Singles event in Asunción, Paraguay.
These outstanding results add to what is already becoming a remarkable young career. Karen has also enjoyed success in national competitions across New Zealand, including winning the Women’s Singles title at the Whanganui Open and multiple junior titles at the Waikato and Bay of Plenty Championships. She has recently been named in Table Tennis New Zealand’s 2026 National Squad — an exciting achievement that recognises her rapid rise in the sport.
To achieve success at this level against some of the world’s best young players is an exceptional accomplishment, and we look forward to following Karen’s continued success in the years ahead.
