Kia ora EGGS whānau,

Summer sport is officially underway and it’s been an awesome start to the season. It was great to meet so many new families at our Year 9 Sport Information Session on Tuesday, and even better to see so many athletes across all year levels already out on the fields, courts, and water proudly representing EGGS.

Coaching News

Peta Toeava Joins Premier Netball Coaching Team for 2026

We’re thrilled to announce that Peta Toeava will be joining our Premier Netball programme as Assistant Coach in 2026.

Peta has been a standout leader in the Northern Mystics midcourt for over a decade and is widely known for her exceptional vision, on-court decision-making, and deadly passing game. Her ability to read the play and create opportunities, combined with explosive speed and athleticism, has made her one of the most exciting and dynamic playmakers in the country.

Alongside her outstanding Mystics career, Peta’s class, experience, and leadership have also seen her feature across multiple Silver Ferns campaigns between 2018 and 2025.

We’re incredibly excited to have a player of this calibre joining our already strong coaching team, working alongside Head Coach Fale Malifa and Premier 2 Coach Kath Krone, as the group looks to build on last year’s impressive Top 4 finish.

Kicking off with Premier Trials next week, we can’t wait to see what the 2026 season brings!

Athletics Day 2026

Excitement is building for Athletics Day next week!

HEATS: Tuesday 17th February, 9am - 3pm

FINALS: Friday 20th February, 9am - 3pm

All students that have signed up for three or more events will be excused from class on Tuesday 17th February to compete in heats. Anyone that has not signed up will be expected to attend their regular timetabled classes.

Regardless of whether you’ve qualified for a final, all students will attend Athletics Day on Friday 20th February. This is an awesome day packed with energy, school spirit, and plenty of opportunities to get involved — whether it be representing your tutor group in the relay, participating in the legendary EGGS Gumboot Throw, or joining in the fiercely contested Tug-of-War.

Head to the Athletics Day tile on SchoolBridge and check the Sports Notice Board for the full event schedule, field map, and instructions for the day.

Athlete Education

Feeling stretched with all your new commitments? Start by mapping your week out in a planner and rate each session from 1–3 based on how intense it is.

If you don’t have at least one proper rest day, look at where you can shift things to create one. Add up your scores for each day to see which days carry the biggest load.

Once you can see it clearly, you can plan properly — whether that’s an earlier night, extra snacks, or a bigger breakfast to fuel the tougher days.
