Kia ora parents and caregivers,
As Term 2 draws to a close, I want to acknowledge the many opportunities we have had this term to celebrate the strength and diversity of our Epsom Girls Grammar School community. Whether through cultural events, academic successes, or evening performances, we continue to see so many of our students challenging themselves to try new things, learn new skills, practise well and taking immense pride in their achievements. A recent highlight has been the success of Paradisum, our premier choir, who have been invited to perform at the Big Sing Finale in Dunedin in Term 3. Congratulations to the students and teachers involved on this outstanding achievement. We also look ahead to the three international trips happening over the holiday break and wish those involved safe and happy travels.
With this being a short, nine week term, students and staff have had to use their time wisely and work with focus on their learning and assessment programmes. Our recent subject teacher conferences were well attended and provided an important opportunity for families to engage with subject teachers about current progress, academic goals, and next steps. These evenings are a valuable way to support students in building confidence and celebrating the gains they are making in their learning. We would appreciate your feedback on these conferences. Please take a few moments to complete this short survey.
The July holidays offer a welcome pause — a chance to rest, reflect, and recharge before we head into the second half of our academic year. Senior students will sit school practice examinations, and all students will continue their learning programmes and work towards assessment milestones. Taking some time to review and prepare during the break will help students start the new term with clarity, confidence, and purpose. For students in Years 9 to 12, it is also a good time to begin thinking ahead to 2026, with Subject Selection processes taking place early in Term 3.
We wish all our families an enjoyable and relaxing break and thank you all for your continued support for our school.
Kind regards,
Brenda McNaughton
Principal
