Term 3 is always a busy term on the festival calendar for Epsom music.

KBB Music Festival

In week 5, five ensembles performed at the KBB Music Festival for bands and orchestras at St Mary’s and Holy Trinity Cathedral. It is the biggest regional festival of its kind. Presenting some stunning performances and a diverse range of repertoire throughout the week, we were thrilled to recognised with a Highly Commended award for the String Ensemble, Silver award for Epsom Symphonia and Bronze awards for Epsom Concert Band, Epsom Chamber Orchestra and Epsom Big Band.

Paradisum Big Sing Finale Success

Our premiere auditioned choir, Paradisum (directed by HOD Music Virginia Le Cren), have returned from the Big Sing Finale in Dunedin. They competed over three days as one of 24 choirs selected from more than 250 choir from secondary schools throughout Aotearoa. Paradisum performed two recitals composed of music sung in Latin, Estonian, Latin and Te Reo Māori. The Big Sing Finale was a wonderful celebration of choral excellence, community and a diverse range of repertoire from all over the world. Following the gala concert on Saturday night, Paradisum were thrilled to be recognised with a Silver award.
