Weekend House Manager

This position starts in Term 1, 2021 

Epsom House is the Boarding House for Epsom Girls Grammar School and has 120 girls aged from 13 - 18 resident seven days a week during school terms.

We are seeking an exceptional Weekend House Manager to join our team at Epsom House. This is a permanent position reporting to the Assistant Principal with responsibility for Epsom House.  This is a senior position and some previous experience in boarding or working with adolescents is desirable. Experience in restorative practices, guidance or property management would be advantageous. 

Hours of work:

Friday 10:00am - 8:30pm, Saturday 6:30am - 3:30pm, Sunday 3:00pm - 10:00am and Monday 6:30am - 1:00pm. Additional casual work is also available on occasion.

Meals are provided while on duty. 

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • The wellbeing and safety of our boarders
  • Assisting with the day to day supervision and duties of the boarding house
  • Liaising with families, whanau and caregivers.

You will:

  • Have a strong interest in the pastoral care of teenage girls
  • Be enthusiastic and patient
  • Have good organisational and administrative skills
  • Be a team player who demonstrates maturity and professionalism
  • Work collaboratively with the weekday House Managers
  • Effectively lead your weekend team of staff

Epsom House Supervisors - Three roles available

Epsom House is the Boarding House for Epsom Girls Grammar School and has 140 students aged from 13 – 18 resident seven days a week during school terms.  Our students all have individual rooms and come from a diverse range of cultures.

We are looking to recruit 3 Supervisors whose responsibilities will be to work closely with the House Managers and the Assistant Principal with responsibility for Epsom House, and to maintain a safe and supportive environment for students at Epsom House.  Experience with restorative principles would be an advantage.  All staff are expected to embrace the school values of Courage, Compassion, Curiosity and Community.

The positions available would suit someone who can form positive relationships with students and encourage them with their sports/cultural activities and their academic responsibilities.  The successful applicants must be enthusiastic and patient when working with teenagers.  We are looking for someone who can create attractive after-school activities and programmes to engage our students with.  Confident and warm communication skills are important.  As we are a girl’s boarding school these positions are only suitable for a female applicant.

These positions are for term time only (with additional casual work available on occasion).   

All meals are provided while on shift.  Shift hours vary for each position:

  1. Monday – Thursday 4.00pm – 10.00pm
  2. Wednesday and Thursday – 3.00pm – 11.00pm
  3. Saturday and Sunday – 7.00am – 3.30pm and 7.30am – 3.30pm

Paid training for the positions will commence as soon as possible this year for the role to begin in late January next year.

Pool Attendant

We are looking for Part Time pool attendants to work various hours during the school term.  Hours may vary by negotiation.

Key Tasks:

  • Open & close facilities when required for hirers
  • Ensure users are familiar with safe and correct use of equipment
  • Ensure that spaces are left clean & tidy after use
  • Ensure that facility and health & safety rules are upheld by hirers and staff
  • Lifeguard duties


The successful applicant should be able to/hold:

  • A current first aid certificate (minimum) and/or current life guard award (Training is available for suitable candidate)
  • Able to work unsupervised
  • Able to work with colleagues, coaches, community and group hirers
  • Able to work a variety of shifts including weekends, early mornings and evenings
  • Able to swim test: 200m in 6 minutes, 5 minutes treading water, surface dive to deepest part of the pool.
