From the Visual Art Department

Eden Arts Young Artist Awards

The Eden Art Awards were held on Saturday 3 September at
the Mt Eden Village Centre. Congratulations to Falefa-o-Alii
Roache who was the overall winner this year with her work
Plastic Samoan.

Congratulations also to Emily Brown, highly commended for
her work Quartz and Isla Thomson, highly commended for her
work Lucille.

Wallace Art Awards
The EGGS Visual Art Department is very proud to announce that
Falefa-o-Alii Roache has also won the Wallace Arts Secondary
Schools Awards with her work "Ceremonial Koga'i". Falefa-o-Alii
was awarded her prize on Monday evening at the opening of the
exhibition by Sir James Wallace. This is a huge accomplishment
for Falefa and our fve other fnalists; Stella Mackrell, Hayley Platt,
Minsoh Choy, Rebecca Hazard and Stephanie Khoo, who were
selected as fnalists from more than fve hundred entries from
throughout New Zealand. Their work will be on display at the Pah
Homestead until the 6 of November, alongside the winners of the
National Wallace Awards and the Wallace Arts Trust Collection;
an unparalleled anthology and resource of Contemporary New
Zealand Art. Falefa-o-Alii Roache with her winning work "Ceremonial Koga'i"
in the Wallace Arts Secondary Schools Awards.
