World Challenge Peru trip

On July 9th, nine enthusiastic senior students, two excited teachers and one awesome
World Challenge leader headed of on the trip of a lifetime to beautiful Southern Peru.
We spent a jam-packed 21 days exploring this amazing country and we saw some
breathtakingly stunning sights along the way.

Our journey took us to Lima, Paracas, Arequipa, Yanque, Puno, Cusco, Ollantaytambo and
Aguas Calientes. We experienced the driest desert in the world (the Atacama Desert);
an outrageous number of birds (over one million on Islas Ballestas); majestic and huge
mountains in the Andes while trekking up to 5200m above sea level; three days with
adorable and enthusiastic Peruvian primary school children; and the absolute pinnacle
of beauty and history Machu Picchu.

Machu Picchu, one of the seven wonders of the world, is a place that should be on
everyones bucket list. The magical feeling you get standing amongst a city that is nearly
600 years old cannot be put into words. Seeing the mind-boggling amount of work that
must have gone into building what was home to around 1000 people, high up in the
mountains, surrounded by sheer clifs, dense jungle and far from all other civilisations
defnitely gave us a huge amount of respect for the Incan people.

The students did a spectacular job of organising every aspect of our journey from booking buses and accommodation to fnding us great
places to eat every day and ensuring we didn t run out of money we are very proud of them and we are sure they have come away with
valuable life lessons on how to successfully travel in the remote parts of the world.

This was the second World Challenge expedition EGGS has undertaken and we are really excited to start planning where our next adventure
will take us! If you are currently in Years 9-11, watch this space for more information.
