Underwater Hockey

Trials for Underwater Hockey will take place in February - please check the school daily notices for confirmation of dates, times and venue.

The Auckland Secondary Schools league is played on Tuesday evenings, starting the 2nd April, at either the Diocesan, Manurewa, or Phillips Aquatic Centre. 

Uniform: EGGS regulation swimsuit for all league games and practices.
 

Numbered playing caps will be supplied by the school.

Equipment: Own snorkel, mask and recommended brand of flippers (appropriate to
  underwater hockey and players strength and experience).
 

Some equipment can be borrowed initially for trials but you will need to purchase
your own for competition.  The coach and Sports Captain will have more information.

Costs: Approximately $240 per player (TBC) which includes pool hire, entry to the AKSS
  league, coach levy, and some transport costs.
Accommodation and travel costs for those involved in teams representing
the school at regional and national tournaments are additional.
Tournaments: Northern Region Qualifying Tournament, 14th - 16th June, West Wave

Epsom Golden Girls

 

The 28th Underwater Hockey New Zealand Secondary Schools Competition was held at the Kilbirnie Aquatic Centre, Wellington, in September 2012. Epsom's Junior A team were won the Junior Girls grade, scoring 5 goals versus Nelson College for Girls' 2 in an exhilarating final. Our Senior Girls also came 1st beating Tauranga Girls College 2-1, an incredible result after losing to them 1-4 at the North Island School Regional’s earlier in the year.

Epsom was also awarded the Top Schools Trophy, an amazing feat for our school. Most Valuable Players were Zoe Jarvis for Junior A Girls, and Portia Manukuo for our Senior Girls team. Rebecca Gatland and Zoe Jarvis were named in the Junior Girls Tournament Team, and Greer Carmine and Portia Manukuo named in the Senior Girls Tournament Team. Portia Manukuo was also named top female player of the tournament. Congratulations to these girls.
